The Brainerd School Board voted to not seek an appeal in a lawsuit with its former insurance carrier, St. Paul Fire and Marine.
The Brainerd School Board in May, 2000 decided to sue St. Paul Fire and Marine to force its insurance company to cover the district's expenses in a settlement of a lawsuit with a former student.
"At this point and time, I feel there are other issues we have to deal with," said school board member Bernie Roberts.
The vote was unanimous.
In other board action, the board:
Heard a presentation from students about having graduation at Don Adamson Field. Superintendent Jerry Walseth said because of the shallow roots of the grass, it's torn easily and seeding needs to take place this springs, forcing graduation indoors. He said he would work with students and Brainerd High School Principal Steve Razidlo on options.
