It's going to cost a bit more for in-state directory assistance for AT&T customers.
Beginning today, AT&T is raising the price of those calls from 50 cents to $1.49. That's the price already charged for directory assistance for out-of-state numbers.
U S West generally charges 85 cents to find out-of-state numbers. Customers get one free call per month for local directory assistance, with additional calls costing 50 cents each.
U S West began charging for directory assistance in 1978, giving customers five free local 411 calls and charging them for 20 cents for each additional call.
