STAPLES -- A free public safety fair will run 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Staples Community Center and Staples Motley High School football field.
More than 30 public and private agencies will offer interactive and informational demonstrations and booths dealing with public safety. Several informational sessions are on the schedule.
An improvisational theater group will present an interactive show dealing with suicide for the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program at 2 and 4 p.m. at Centennial Auditorium.
A firearms safety program is set from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. at McGivern Park.
Todd/Wadena correctional officers will be available to discuss general issues on sex offenders at 1 and 5 p.m. at the Stapes Community Center.
Minnesota Operation Lifesaver will have a talk on highway and railroad safety at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. at the community center.
The Staples and Motley police departments will offer child ID and DNA sampling for pre-schoolers and home-schooled children. Processing for most schoolchildren has already been completed.
Lakewood Health System will have a child car safety clinic at the Staples Fire Hall. Pre-registration is required by calling (218) 894-0332.

Burn house by the Staples Fire Department; rollover simulator and simulator goggles by the State Patrol; all-terrain vehicle, boat, four-wheeler and snowmobile safety by the DNR; security systems by G&N Technology and System Integration/People's Security; hovercraft by the Scandia Valley Water Rescue Unit; helicopter by North Air Care; Hands of Hope; AAA Driving; Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Campaign; MN ENABL; Staples Motley SADD; squad cars/fire trucks; Neighborhood Watch; escape videos if a child is abducted; Central Lakes Search & Rescue; emergency response vehicle by Wadena County; Jaws of Life by the Motley Fire Department; Todd County Social Services Child Protection Team; Todd County Public Health; advanced hunter safety; Staples Ambulance Service; Vulnerable Adult Protection Task Force; Senior LinkAge; water divers from the Morrison County Search and Rescue; McGruff, crime fighting dog; firearm safety pellet gun shoot; playground/toy safety; Todd County Boat and Water Safety; and CLC Law Enforcement Department.
Food will be available through various youth groups. The event is sponsored by the Staples Motley Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and many other cooperating agencies.
