DETROIT LAKES -- Bertha "Betty" L. Cogger, 84, Callaway, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at St. Mary's Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
She was born July 18, 1917, in Staples to George and Dora (Claussen) Leu. They farmed near Argusville, N.D., and Harwood, N.D. They lived in Sugar Bush Township in rural Callaway. She worked for Cogger's Resort on Little Sugar Bush Lake, the Erie 34 Club, Erie Jr. Restaurant, Detroit Lakes Diner and Kentucky Fried Chickenin Detroit Lakes before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Callaway and the St. Rachel Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Cogger, Detroit Lakes; four sons, Duane Cogger, Detroit Lakes, Edward Cogger, Callaway, Monty Cogger, Baxter, and Rock Cogger, Callaway; six daughters, Norma "Jean" Bakka, Ogema, Donna LeVan, Tempe, Ariz., Joan Nicols, St. Paul, Shirley Johnson, Callaway, Patty Lindsay, Auburn, Wash., Sue Holt, Detroit lakes; 30 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Norma Ringler, five brothers, Albert, Harry, George, Floyd and Robert Leu; and a granddaughter, died earlier.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church in Callaway. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Richmond.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the David-Donehower Funeral Home and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
