AUSTIN -- William F. Rabine, 71, Austin, formerly of Elkton and Fifty Lakes, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after suffering a cardiac arrest.
He was born March 31, 1932, near Dexter, to William and Elna (Rubin) Rabine. He attended Elkton School before moving to St. Paul and was employed at Perfection Type. On June 2, 1951, he married Betty Hoppin in Dexter. After moving back to the Elkton area, he owned and operated a service station, drove school bus for many years and was a bulk delivery dealer for Osmundson Oil Co. for more than 30 years. After retiring in 1994, they moved to Fifty Lakes where he was active in the Emily United Methodist Church, Fifty Lakes Sportsman Club and an Eagle Lake representative on the Fifty Lakes Property Owners Association. In 2000, he moved to Austin to be closer to family. He was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, Austin Senior Center and Sterling Silver Club.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Valerie Rabine-Young, Austin; Vicki Kuhlmann, Rose Creek; Vanette Rabine, Byron; his mother, Elna Deyo, Austin; two sisters, Inez Schutte, Cambridge, and Arlene Buchite, Fifty Lakes; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
His father and a brother died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dexter Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Arrangements are with Adams Funeral Home.
