20 years ago (1983)

Crosby-Ironton hosted the District 18A speech tournament Saturday and earned the first-place trophy for total team points. Taking second was Aitkin.

30 years ago (1973)

Dedication ceremonies and open house for what will become the Terrance A. Peterson United States Army Reserve Center will be held Saturday in Brainerd, home of Company A 367th Engineer Battalion is being named in memory of Cpl. Peterson.

40 years ago (1963)

The Pequot Lakes School Board at its regular meeting adopted a resolution approving the plan for consolidation with the Nisswa District which was earlier approved by the State Department of Education.

60 years ago (1943)

Mayor Frank B. Johnson today paid tribute to Brainerd men of the 194th Tank Battalion who are among the heroes of Bataan. Nearly 100 Brainerd men were among the troops serving in Bataan at the time of its fall.

80 years ago (1923)
