LITTLE FALLS -- Hubert "Hub" Walther, 86, Little Falls, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
He was born Dec. 2, 1915, in Elgin to the Rev. Ernest H.T. and Emma (Goldhahn) Walther. He graduated from Ceylon High School in 1933. He continued his education at Esterville Junior College, the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis School of Business. He worked as a salesman for Swift and Co., for many years. He married Margaret "Sargie" E. Lambert on April 22, 1938, in Wilbert. They lived in a number of towns in Minnesota, including Little Falls. He enlisted in the military in August 1943 and served in the Naval Sea Bees during World War II in the Philippines until his discharge in December 1945. Following his military service he took a job with Lutheran Brotherhood in Bemidji and later moved to Duluth where he started his own Lutheran Brotherhood agency. In 1956, they moved to Miami, Fla. They retired in 1982 and returned to Little Falls. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112 and Little Falls American Legion Post No. 46.
Survivors include his wife.
Three brothers, Herbert, Ernest and Otto Walther; and two sisters, Ruth Walther and Renata Nunes, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
