HOYT, Kan. - Robert E. Richter, 69, previously of Brainerd, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan.

He was born June 4, 1940, in St. Cloud, Minn., the son of Emil and Helen (Tabatt) Richter. He attended St. Francis School in Brainerd, Minn., and graduated from Washington High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Bob was a Greyhound bus driver for 30 years. After retiring from Greyhound he drove a school bus for Reichert Bus Company for several years.
He married Sharon Blakeman on Nov. 26, 1960, in Brainerd. She survives, of the home.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Catherine Richter, who died in infancy, Doreen Klaverkamp, Leonette Sadler and Anita Veldman.
Other survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Richter, wife Marlene, and their children, Rebecca, Alicia and Robbie, of Las Vegas, and James Richter, Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Janelle Kent, husband Raymond, and their daughter, Janay, of Hoyt, Kan., and Jodi Cooley, and her daughters, Ashlee Jones and Candace Cooley, of Springfield, Mo.; and four sisters, Mary Jane Drach, Florida, and Ellen Christansen, Lynn Richter and Laura Richter, all of Brainerd, Minn.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation is planned. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, Minn., at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, with Father Steve LaFlamme officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or the Greyhound Bus Museum and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 280, Hoyt, KS 66440.
