What does it mean to have autism?
We've all been out to a grocery store or running errands when we come across a child throwing a temper tantrum, including screaming, throwing and hitting. We may wonder why parents are letting their child do this without any discipline or reprimands. If this is a child with autism, he or she most likely has lost control because of sensory overload. The sounds and visual stimulation and the overwhelming crowds are just too much for this child to take in, which results in a meltdown.

Open Forum
The recent post by a Brainerd writer cited reports conducted on a very specific group of people. The studies looked at the behavior of gay/bisexual men at bathhouses, AIDS clinics, and gay bars. Perhaps by comparison, we should study the behavior of straight men who go to porno theaters, or married men who frequent prostitutes.

OUR OPINION: ATV USE

How to make hard-boiled eggs
Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with one inch of cold water. Bring to a boil, cover, and immediately remove from heat. Let stand 12 to 13 minutes. Remove eggs from water. Plunge eggs into a bowl of ice water, which prevents the yolk from discoloring due to overcooking and facilitates peeling. After eggs have cooled, remove from water, dry off and store in refrigerator.
