CROSBY - Gustav Herbert Anderson, age 86, of Crosby, died on March 14, 2010, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on May 11, 1923, in St. Paul to Carl and Esther (Hendrickson) Anderson. He married Lucille Evelyn Erickson on June 27, 1947, in St. Paul. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the South Pacific. After his discharge from the Army he attended and graduated from Dunwoody College as an electrician. In March of 1950 he join the Marine Reserve. In July he was called to active duty and served one year in the Korean War as an aviation electrician.
Gus was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Outing; the Masonic Lodge, the VFW, the American Legion and a past Lions Club member.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille; three daughters, Lynette (Richard) Cannon, of Vashon, Wash., Linda Anderson, of Crosby, and Karen (Reginald) Smith, of Emily; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Elvira Anderson and Florence Goodwin.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Outing. Military honors will be given by the Myrin-James American Legion, Ironton. Friends may call on Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
