GRAND RAPIDS -- The Central Lakes College Raiders softball team went on the road and came away with a hard-earned split against a quality opponent in the Itasca College Vikings Tuesday, winning the first game 5-4 and dropping the second 10-6.

Amber Buttler picked up the win on the mound in the first game and was aided by a home run from Elsie Rehberger and a three-run double from Beth Rogge. Jenna Koester was 2-for-4 with a double for the Raiders.

It was a different story in the second game. Despite pounding out 15 hits the Raiders committed six errors, and Buttler, who picked up the loss, walked five batters.

Jackie Sullivan, Shannon Smith and Rehberger each collected three hits apiece for CLC and Kristin Kapsner was 2-2. Rehberger knocked in two runs while Smith and Kayla Pohlkamp each hit doubles.

"A sweep would've been better but we feel fortunate to come out with a split," Raiders coach Bob Sullivan said. "We really let the second game get away from us with the errors; that was the difference. The real encouraging thing is that we have a lot of people getting involved with the hitting."
