AITKIN -- Evelyn Jeanette Johnson, age 91, of Aitkin, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born July 17, 1913, at Thor, Minn., the daughter of Ole and Jensine (Peterson) Aune. She attended school at Thor and graduated from the Brainerd High School. She then attended Teachers Normal School in Crosby. She taught for 34 years in Aitkin County, teaching at Rippleside Elementary School for many of those years. She married Harold E. Johnson on July 1, 1936, at Thor. They lived and farmed in Lee Township. She moved to the Aicota Health Care Center in November of 2003. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Thor.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Dwaine Boucher, of Aitkin; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. from the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with the Rev. Donald Norman officiating. Burial will be in the Saron Cemetery in Aitkin County. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also an hour prior to services on Friday. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
