Lois 'Jean' Beck

Lois "Jean" Beck, 76, of Brainerd, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at St. Cloud Hospital. Lois Jean Nelson was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Duluth to Roy Anton and Ruth Isabelle (DeBoer) Nelson. She was united in marriage to Harvey Beck Oct. 18, 1947, in Duluth. They moved to the Brainerd lakes area in 1952. Jean worked as a medical technician at Brainerd Regional Human Services Center for several years, and then worked for Mills as a bookkeeper. After retirement, the couple lived in Arizona for 11 years before returning to Brainerd. Jean was widowed in 2002 and had lived at Woodland Good Samaritan Village. She attended the Assembly of God Church. Jean enjoyed playing the organ, cooking, knitting and crocheting and playing bridge.

Lois "Jean" Beck is survived by a daughter, Julie Coffey of Bryon, Ill.; two sons, William Beck of Yuma, Ariz., and Scott Beck of Baxter; two sisters, Arlene Olson of Duluth, and Joyce Patenaude of Santa Monica, Calif.; a brother, Richard Nelson of Minnetonka; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Irene Hochmayr of Pequot Lakes.

Private memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
