20 years ago (1982)

The Mississippi River was expected to exceed the 10-foot flood stage today near Fort Ripley, but the National Weather Service sees no danger of flooding in any town along the river. However, there could be water in lowland pastures along the Mississippi.

30 years ago (1972)

While the Brainerd area missed most of the snowfall which dropped up to three inches on parts of the state, the cold weather accompanying the snowfall has moved into the area and little hope for improvement is forecast for Saturday.Temperatures dropped to 10 degrees in Brainerd.

40 years ago (1962)

The patient population at Brainerd State School and Hospital has increased by 305 since October, Harold W. Peterson, administrator, pointed out. At the present time there are 832 patients there.

60 years ago (1942)

Concerning Folks You Know!

-- James Fitzharris is spending his Easter vacation at his home. He is a student at St. Thomas College.

-- Tom Murphy returned this morning to St. Thomas College.

-- Miss Alice Hagen, Miss Marlyss McGinn, Robert Russell, Robert Alderman, Gene Bierhaus, Neil Whiting and Bill Van Essen, all students at the University of Minnesota, have returned to Minneapolis.

80 years ago (1922)

J.M. Atwater, Robert Darling and C. Frandsen motored to Brainerd from Pequot. They came in a large Buick and reported the roads fairly good.

100 years ago (1902)

It has been decided that the Brainerd Marine Band will accompany the Elks to Little Falls and the members of the organization are making great preparations for the event.
