MG dancers awarded at Encore Showcase

MINNEAPOLIS - Brainerd's Music General dancers attended the Encore Performing Arts Showcase Regional Competition March 10-11 at Northrop Auditorium on the University of Minnesota campus.

The group performed 24 dances and was awarded 20 Platinum and four High Gold awards. Students received more than $400 in prize money.

Seniors who took first place were:

Senior Solo, Randie Swanson, $75.

Senior Small Group, "You and I Both," $125.

Senior Large Group, "Hosanna" (Emeralds), $150.

Senior Duet/Trio, "Nobody" (Boys Trio), $75.

Music General dancers in the Large Groups category received a Platinum award for "Feelin' Good." Dancers are Kourtney Holloway (front left), Jill Polansky, Heather Beyer, Ashley Hillstrom, Abby Hradsky, Rachelle Reed (back left), Jenny Johnson, Emma Palm, Laura Pfeifer, Brynn Samp, Kristin Goddard, Sarah Brill and Randie Swanson.

Swanson and Rachelle Reed were selected as Elite Dancers and will perform at nationals in Las Vegas. Sylvia Borash was given a full scholarship to classes at nationals in Las Vegas.

The Senior Small Group (Tap), "You and I Both," received the Critics Choice Award. Recreational dancers from the studio received Gold and High Gold awards.

Instructors are Sue Kuhn, Mabelle Tamasy, Amy Borash and Roseanne Reed.
