Russell Clark, the son of Kent Clark and Linda and Burl Boyer of Brainerd, was named to the fall dean's list at St. Cloud State University. Clark is majoring in aquatic biology.
Cory Olson, Brainerd; Daniel Moddes, Nisswa; and Tim Honek, Staples, participated in the spring 2004 student teaching program at Bemidji State University. Olson is a senior majoring in technology education. He taught industrial technology at Crosby-Ironton High School under the supervision of Mike Beseres. Moddes is a senior majoring in social studies. He taught social studies at Blackduck High School under the supervision of Laura Wood. Honek is a senior majoring in elementary education. He taught fifth grade at Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary School under the supervision of Bernie St. Peter.
Gregg Day, the son of Kenn and Mary Day of Baxter, and Sabrina Ballard, the daughter of Pamela Ballard of Ironton, were selected students of the month for March by the Youth Activities Committee of Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615. Day is involved in football, hockey, basketball, golf, student council and class cabinet and is a Sunday school teacher. He also was named Athlete of the Week. He plans to pursue a degree in education. Ballard is involved in band, choir and cheerleading, was named the Snow Daze queen and received a student recognition region award. She plans to attend Lake Superior College in Duluth to study X-ray technology.
Luke Borkenhagen, the son of Chip and Jean Borkenhagen of Baxter, was named to the fall dean's list at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Borkenhagen is working on a degree in anthropology.
Anderson Brothers Construction Co. announced the establishment of a scholarship through the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation. The annual $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a career in civil engineering, heavy equipment or construction management.

Kristina Bird, Brainerd, participated in the Resident Student Board at Viterbo University, which received major honors at a Wisconsin United Residence Halls Association meeting.
The following area students graduated from the College of St. Scholastica: Christine Wilder, the daughter of Robert and Stephanie Wilder of Baxter, who earned a bachelor's degree in nursing; Terri Foster, the daughter of Henry and Sharon Hauger of Pequot Lakes, master's degree in management who plans to work at Conrey Compliance Systems Inc. in Plymouth; Lori Gorman, Brainerd, bachelor's degree in organizational behavior; Jennifer Hartman, the daughter of James and Judy Hartman of Baxter, bachelor's degree in management who also was on the dean's list; Jason Lindquist, Brainerd, master's degree in management; Shannon Ramsdell, the daughter of Ron and Denise Collins of Brainerd, bachelor's degree in nursing and she is employed at Good Neighbor Home Health Care as the director of nursing.
Jeremy and Jesse Freihammer of Baxter were on the North Dakota State University construction team that placed first in a recent American Institute of Steel Construction regional steel bridge competition. The competition required students to build a 25-foot, two-span steel bridge that would safely carry 2,500 pounds.
