WALKER -- Chad Leroy Nelson, 20, Jenkins, was sentenced Monday in Cass County District Court for two counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
He was involved in a May 16, 2001, fatal accident on Highway 371 north of Pine River.
He was sentenced to 54 months prison.
The car Nelson was driving crossed the centerline and collided with a pickup truck towing a boat on a trailer. The pickup rolled over. Three people were thrown from the truck.
Duane Allen Laumann, the driver, and Robert Gilbert Sudheimer, a passenger, both of Waconia, died at the scene.
Nelson, a passenger in his vehicle and Loane Clarence Burau, a passenger in the pickup, were treated for injuries at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Chemical tests Nelson took after the accident showed recent marijuana use, the criminal complaint said.
