The Brainerd School Board awarded a bid Wednesday to M.G. Carlson Construction in Baxter for an estimated $700,000 for the Nisswa library project.
The board's building committee had rejected bids in March because they were about $200,000 more than the district anticipated the project would cost. Cuts were made to the project, including minimizing brick use and landscaping, to bring the project within budget.
The Nisswa library budget includes $575,000 from the Cote Foundation and $250,000 from the school district. Excluding professional fees of about $75,000, the district has about $750,000 for actual construction costs.
The board also approved a bid for about $19,000 from Gull Lake Glass for the aluminum entrance. This brings the total cost for the project to $719,190.
