Harland Rowland

HASTINGS - Harland Rowland, beloved husband, father and grandfather, great-grandpa, brother, age 83, of Hastings, Minn., died peacefully April 1, 2009, to journey to his heavenly home. Preceded in death by parents, Herman and Christine Rowland; sisters, Carol Tautges, Marlys Starkka.

Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Marian; daughters, Suzan (Ray) Schmidt, St. Paul Park, Minn., and Mary Fjetland, Hastings; sister, Shirley (Allin) Karls, Chico, Calif.; grandchildren, Michael (Heidi) Schmidt, Brainerd, Dana Fjetland, Holly Souza, Carrie (Jeff) Resch, Jamie Olson, Twin Cities area, Greg (Maggie) Fjetland, Lake City, Minn., Jeff (Tiffany) Fjetland, Ellsworth, Wisc. Sixteen great-grandchildren brought him much joy.

WWII and Korean War veteran; 1943 graduate of Washington High School.

Memorial service Tuesday, April 7, 2 p.m.; visitation 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 2220 Edgerton St., St. Paul.
