FORT RIPLEY -- Paul L. Monk, 69, Fort Ripley, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at home.
He was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Rothsay to James and Hazel (Kemp) Monk. He married Wanda Begin on Nov. 14, 1953, in Rochester. They lived in the Minneapolis area for many years before moving to the Fort Ripley area in 1975. He was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112 and the Central Minnesota Retriever Club in Sauk Rapids.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Susan Breedlove, Rogers, Ark., Nancy Kowalzek, Fort Ripley, and Debra Stepanek, Fort Ripley; two sons, James Monk, Arnegard, N.D., and David Monk, Fort Ripley; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Charlene Nelson, Redding, Calif., and Jeanne Richardson, Esterville, Iowa.
His parents, two brothers and three sisters died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Rev. Loren Olson officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Military rites will be provided by the Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112. Memorials are preferred to Brainerd Home Care and Hospice.
