MESA, Ariz. -- Mary "Jeanne" Boos, 79, Mesa, Ariz., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Her husband also died in the accident.
She was born March 31, 1923, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Perry and Helen (Tracy) Peters. She graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in Wisconsin and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in journalism. She worked as a copy editor at WDLB in Marshfield. She married Gerald Boos on Aug. 30, 1947, in Marshfield. In 1956, they moved to Owatonna. She wrote feature stories for the Owatonna Photo News and the Owatonna People's Press. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Owatonna since 1962 and a member of Marian St. Mary's Home and School Association, American Association of University Women and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Duenow, Lake Orion, Mich., and Ann Vargason, Owatonna; three sons, Charles Boos, Gresham, Ore., James Boos, Brainerd, and John Boos, Grayslake, Ill.; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Owatonna. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's School or to the Owatonna Foundation.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 3 p.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna.
