Early childhood screenings set in Emily, Pequot
Early childhood screenings are scheduled in Emily and Pequot Lakes.
Emily Charter School will hold screenings for Head Start, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
The Pequot Lakes School District will sponsor screenings for children age 3 and 7 months to age 5 on Friday, April 30, at the Lakes Area Family Center.
An early childhood screening is a simple, careful check for vision, hearing, dental, developmental and growth status, and an immunization review for 3 1/2- to 5-year- old children. Participation in a screening is required before kindergarten entrance. There is no charge for this service. This screening program is not a substitute for a medical examination or ongoing family health care from a physician, dentist or other health provider.
The early childhood screening program is designed to reach "healthy" children and find problems that can be corrected by early treatment.
Parents are told at the screening whether a health or developmental problem is discovered and referral recommendations are made.
For more information in Pequot Lakes, call Early Childhood Family Education at (218) 568-9224. For more information in Emily call (218) 763-3401.
