Beatrice M. Scharf

Beatrice M. Scharf, 82, Brainerd, formerly of Coleraine, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, in Brainerd.

She was born July 10, 1918, in Calumet to William and Laura (Hoshal) White. She graduated from Greenway High School and the Duluth State Teachers College. She lived most of her life in Coleraine. She married Robert Mandich in 1947. She was a kindergarten teacher in Balsam and Grand Rapids schools for 36 years. She retired and became a resident of the Warba area and Tucson. She married Baldwin "Bob" Scharf in 1981. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Warba, a former member of the Coleraine Presbyterian Church and the Holy Way Presbyterian Church in Tucson.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Moyer, Duluth, and Melanie Quillin, Brainerd; two sons, Daniel Mandich, San Jose, Calif., and Robert Mandich; two stepdaughters, Darlene Linville, Spring Hill, Fla., and LeAnne Jenkins, Faribault; two stepsons, DuWayne Scharf, Rochester, and Ric Scharf, Minneapolis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence White, Puyallup, Wash., Richard White, Coleraine, and Ronald White, Phoenix; and two sisters, Dorothy Peterson, Bovey, and Pearl Belland, Minneapolis.

Her first husband, her second husband, six brothers, Roy, Ray, Donald, Lawrence, Robert and Stanley, and a sister, Almina Colvin, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Warba with the Rev. Loren Anderson-Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine.

Arrangements are with Peterson Funeral Chapel in Coleraine.
