The election of officers for the Downtown Brainerd Businessmen's Council was held recently. They are: Don Nyberg, Tom Larson, Lorri Hoff, Margaret Larson and Ray Burnett.

30 years ago (1971)

Tim Vrudny was named the Outstanding Ninth Grade Swimmer in the annual Two Harbors' Junior High School Swimming Invitational Tournament, which drew between 250 and 300 boys from 10 teams over the weekend.

40 years ago (1961)

Brainerd today was receiving welcome moisture in a mixture of rain and snow. Precipitation here this year is far below normal after a winter of almost no snow.

60 years ago (1941)

Bunyanites meet Gilbert in State Tournament. Members of the Brainerd Bunyanites Quint are: Bob Thompson, Les Lind, Art Hautala, Bob Sheflo, O.D. Larson, Bill Harlan, Rod Madsen and Bill Heikkenen.

80 years ago (1921)

"Pa's a disappointed man."

"What's the trouble?"

"He played golf yesterday."

"Why the disappointment?"

"He found he couldn't drive a golf ball an inch further than he did when he quit the game last fall."

Divorced people in Minnesota will hereafter be compelled to wait six months before re-marrying, a bill to that effect having passed the Legislature.
