Champions determined in Pierz basketball tournament

PIERZ -- Winners were determined in the third annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday.

Fifty-eight teams participated in five divisions. Most teams were guaranteed six games with a few teams playing 10 games.

The tournament included teams from Brainerd, Foley, Pequot Lakes, Holdingford, Onamia, Pillager, Staples, Motley, St. Cloud and Pierz. In the 9th-11th grade boys' division Pillager repeated as champion.

6th-8th grade boys God division: 1-Flying Falcons, Foley: Matt Thorsness, Josh Botzek, Jon Hageman, Cody Lezer; 2-Scrappers, Foley: Jake Hansmeier, Noah Dombrovski, Jon Moorhlag, Adam Ruis; 3-Albany, Huskies: Aaron Goebel, Shephen Buesgens, Randy Lockridge, Grant Tomasche.
