BAXTER -- Julia M. Sells, 97, Baxter, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
She was born May 14, 1906, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Fred and Emma (Mark) Hugh. She was a longtime resident of the Brainerd area where she belonged to First Presbyterian Church and served as a sales representative for Avon for 30 years. Julia enjoyed a long and happy life, married to her husband Lee for almost 77 years. She will be remembered for her sweet disposition, her care for others and her deep faith in God. She will be sorely missed but her family and friends are comforted by knowing she now abides with her Savior, Jesus. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. James Furda, Dr. Ann Williams and the caring staff at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
Survived by her daughter, Gladys Yarwood of Baxter; her grandchildren, Sandra (Larry) Bass of New Hartford, Iowa, Bob (Barb) Sells of Waterloo, Iowa, Alan (Judy) Yarwood of Clarissa, Minn., Connie (Gene) Nelson of Roscoe, Ill., and Julie (Ray) Hendrickson of Clear Lake, Minn.; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lee, her son, Mervin Sells, daughter-in-law, Mary Sells, and son-in-law, Charles Yarwood, two brothers and two sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, April 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd with Pastor Harold Tongen officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, April 4, 2004, from 5-7 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at the church.
