Tribute will be paid this month to the veterans, both living and dead, of World War II's Bataan Death March in the Philippines.
A re-enactment of the death march and a memorial ceremony are set for Saturday at the Brainerd National Guard Armory at 1115 Wright St. A wreath-laying ceremony will be conducted at 10 a.m. April 9 at the same location.
Saturday's activities begin with a 7:15 a.m. opening ceremony at the guard's training and community center. The march begins at 8 a.m. and a wreath-laying ceremony is set for 3 p.m. Both 10-mile and 20-mile courses are available for people to walk or run. Spaghetti, brats and refreshments will be available for marchers. Non-participants can purchase meals for $5. Registration forms can be picked up at the armory and more information may be obtained by calling 828-2572.
