Renovation of the Chalberg Theatre to be used for classroom space would be the project identified by Central Lakes College's Brainerd campus if a bonding bill is approved by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
Kari Christiansen, vice president of administrative services, said the project to establish a cross-functional learning environment would use materials that are energy- efficient in mechanical, electrical, lighting and other building components. The components would include recycled or renewable green products where feasible.
Earlier this week Brainerd's CLC project was recommended for this year's bonding bill by a key committee. The theater, which seats about 250, would be large lecture-type and multimedia friendly classroom space.
Estimated cost of the Chalberg project would be about $525,000 of the total $3.6 million that will be shared with six other campuses.
