The Pine River City Council is looking for a new mayor.
Dale A.P. Anderson, 34, who was elected in November, resigned effective Wednesday. He cited his father's health problems and the attention those problems have demanded as his reason.
The council will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday to appoint a replacement for Anderson. City Clerk Wanda Tulenchik said, to her knowledge, no one had expressed interest in the post, as of Thursday.
"It's enough dealing with my family and right now they come first," Anderson said.
Anderson, who runs a trucking business, said that for the last month and a half he has had to miss several city meetings.
"I didn't feel I could put the city's business on hold," Anderson said.
