Kinship Partners matches young children with adult volunteers who provide a nurturing, positive influence in their lives.
We ask our volunteers to spend just a couple hours a week with their junior partner doing everyday activities that they both enjoy. All that is needed is to become an adult volunteer for Kinship Partners is a love of children, a couple hours a week of spare time and the willingness to make a year long commitment to make a difference in the life of a child.
You might be wondering who is a typical volunteer for Kinship Partners? Well, there really isn't a typical volunteer. We have volunteers ranging in age from 22 to 86 and every age in between. WE also have volunteers from every type of family situation: single, married, married with children in the home, married with grown children, retired persons, and even retired persons who go south for the winter.
The children enrolled in Kinship Partners come from a variety of family situations with most coming from single parent families. We service children ages 5 to 14 in Crow Wing County and in Southern Cass County. All of these children are in need of an adult friend to spend time with.
There are over 50 children enrolled in our program on our waiting list. One of them is 11-year-old Randy from Pequot Lakes. He is looking for a partner who is active and loves sports. Randy is a likable young boy who is energetic and fun to be around. He has an interest in woodworking and would love to go fishing with his partner.
There are many other children in our program who are waiting for a partner. If you would like more information about Randy or any of the other children on our waiting list, please call one of our area offices. In Brainerd, call 829-4606, in Cuyuna Country call 546-7308 and in Lake Country call 568-4015.
Please all Kinship Partners and make this a memorable summer for you and a child on our waiting list!
