BOWLUS -- Alois Maciej, 77, Bowlus, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
He was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Two Rivers Township to Albert and Frances (Solarz) Maciej. He attended school in Bowlus and after his schooling he farmed with his parents. He married Olivia Stumpf on June 5, 1951, in Pierz. He continued to farm until 1991. He also played in several old time local bands for more than 15 years. He formed Al's Trio, where he provided entertainment at many weddings, anniversaries and dances. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Bowlus.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Don Maciej, Royalton, Mike Maciej, St. Cloud, and Steve Maciej, Rice; two daughters, Mary Popp, Sauk Rapids, and Laura Berends, Carrollton, Texas; a sister, Mary Opatz, Wait Park; 14 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
A daughter, Joan; three brothers, Peter, Joseph and John; and two sisters Elizabeth and Theresa, died earlier.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus with Father Greg Mastery officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Rosary Society with pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. until one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
