The government doesn't seem to be able to conduct business with the amount of revenue they already get from taxpayers. They always want more money from us. Other businesses lower their expenses by reducing their work force. This is something the government never seems to consider. They need all those pencil pushers, administrators and assistants, etc.
With the economy in dire straits, I would like to go back to work to supplement my meager monthly Social Security check. So far I haven't been able to find a company willing to pay me a $6 million bonus every year. So it's hard to get motivated. I guess I just don't have the experience they are looking for. I have never run a business into bankruptcy, owned a private jet, taken trips to expensive resorts or received a government bail out. Since times are tough, maybe if I lower my asking salary to $3 million someone will take a chance with me.
Many labor leaders lack smarts
I must reply to the article Give Workers A Fair Shake printed in the March 26 Brainerd Dispatch. The article is so full of false assumptions it makes the article quite humorous. Most enlightened corporations in the United States recognize the company's most valuable assets are their employees. A corporation's CEO must balance salaries, cost of products and profits. Many times a slight increase in employee's salaries will cause the profits to go negative. When that happens the company goes out of business and everyone loses their jobs. Besides that, corporate losses have a negative affect on retirement funds of many people not even working for the corporation. Very, very few of our labor leaders have the intelligence to run a large corporation. Many of the labor leaders, in my opinion, don't have the intelligence to pour peas out of a boot with instructions on the heel! Even Joe Biden, our VP, has never held a real job.
I attended a union meeting in Wisconsin years ago. The union leaders, goons brought in from out of town to rally the local members to go on strike if the company didn't meet their unrealistic demands. Two local union members spoke up to disagree with these imported union leaders. After the meeting these two people found their tires slashed. That is exactly why all union votes, like organization or salaries should be with the secret ballots. The unions today are pushing for only card signing to get a union in place. Why are the union leaders so afraid of secret ballots? Why, because their intimidation efforts might be off-set by secret ballots.
Septic tank's ability questioned
At the March 4 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting a statement was made that an individual's septic tank has not been pumped for almost two decades, with the claiming that with such good biological activity in the tank there was no sludge. I was in disbelief, but the planning and zoning administrator made no comment, so he must of believed the statement.
A question was sent to the state of Minnesota regulators/educators and asked if such an occurrence, as to have no sludge over time, could prevail in a septic tank. The replies were most interesting and with some humor. The one line replies from the Minnesota regulators/educators consisting of: A compliant tank will fill with solids; is someone on medications, which inhibit settling of solids and they wash out in the soil system; use of additives could result in solids going to the soil system; if excessive water is entering the tank, solids will wash out to the soil system; if tank is not water tight the solids may be washed away; must not use toilet paper.
I thank the regulators/educators from the state of Minnesota for their replies to this question and the replies to many other questions which they have provided to me.
Foster home surplus questioned
In regard to the two little boys whose mother bit them, I would like to get foster licensed to care for them, but, I was told that Crow Wing County does not need foster homes. I was a licensed foster care provider in Hennepin so I know I am qualified. How can that be when every other county has a huge need for foster homes?
