20 years ago (1987)

The Brainerd YMCA kicked off its $300,000 fund drive Saturday at Ruttgers' Bay Lake Lodge with Bob Manlett of the Steger North Pole expedition as keynote speaker.

30 years ago (1977)

Larry Lopp, a longtime Brainerd resident and owner of Paul Bunyan Amusement Center received the "Heart of the Month" award from Citizens State Bank of Brainerd. Larry Lopp has been a leading Brainerd citizen since 1946.

40 years ago (1967)

Leonard Peterson was honored as Boss of the Year by the Brainerd Jaycees. Peterson is superintendent of the electrical department at the Northwest Paper company here.

60 years ago (1947)

80 years ago (1927)

If the present weather conditions continue it is likely that the Brainerd golf course will open within a few days. All indications point to a large increase in membership this year.
