Helen I. Peterson

Helen I. Peterson, age 82, of Brainerd, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Memorial services will be Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at the Woodland Chapel. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Helen Preuss was born July 14, 1922, in rural LeSueur County to William and Linda (Bendix) Preuss. She was married to Carl H. Peterson from Alnena, Wis., on Feb. 17, 1945, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Henderson, Minn. They lived in LeSueur until 1960, when they moved to St. Peter. Helen was employed by ADC Telecommunications, St. Peter Regional Treatment Center, and retired from the St. Peter School District. She was a member of the Community Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered sewing and quilting for residents of the nursing home. After her husband's death in 1993 Helen moved to Brainerd where she lived until her passing. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter.

Helen leaves two sons, Gary (Linda) Peterson, of Vashon, Wash., and Roy (Ann Tuomi) Peterson, of Pillager; and three grandsons, Arthur, Sidney and Luke Peterson. Her parents; her husband, Carl; and two sisters, Dorothy (Preuss) Balk and Mabel (Preuss) Renneke, preceded her in death. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
