David E. Dinham, 75, Brainerd, died of cancer on Monday, March 29, 2004, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1928, in Duluth to Bert and Irma (Gujer) Dinham. He graduated from the Duluth Central High School in 1946 and the University of Minnesota in 1950 with a bachelor of business administration degree. He served in the Minnesota National Guard for nine years, 1948-1957. He married Beverly Erickson Vibert on June 27, 1964. He moved to Brainerd from Cloquet in 1968. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd, the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, the Pine Meadows Golf Club of Brainerd, winning the club championship in 1977, and the Brainerd Sports Booster Club. He was active in the Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association as a director, vice president and president. For many years, he enjoyed the competition and friendship of playing in local golf tournaments. He retired from Potlatch as purchasing manager in 1995 after completing 41 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Brainerd; his three sons, Scott (Janice) of Winthrop, Wash., Mark (Jana) of Puyallup, Wash., and Paul of Tempe, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd with Pastor Harold Tongen officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd.
