RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The story of gutsy legal assistant Erin Brockovich earned Julia Roberts a best-actress Oscar, but the real-life Brockovich's courtroom drama continues -- this time starring her second husband.
Reno stockbroker Steven Michael Brockovich is suing his ex for libel and slander. He contends in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that Erin Brockovich falsely claimed in People magazine and the Star tabloid that he failed to pay child support for their daughter, who's now 11.
Steven Brockovich claims the article hurt his reputation in Reno, causing his business to drop.
Brockovich's attorney, Ed Masry (Albert Finney in the film "Erin Brockovich"), said the articles were accurate and called the lawsuit frivolous.
Stone gets restraining order
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A court commissioner issued a temporary restraining order against a man who allegedly showed up at Sharon Stone's Los Angeles-area home, saying he wanted to "take her and marry her."
Superior Court Commissioner Victor I. Reichman issued the order Tuesday, Stone's attorney, Robert S. Chapman said Wednesday. A hearing on a permanent order was set for April 17, Chapman said.
The order bars Agostino P'omato from being within 100 yards of the 43-year-old actress; her husband, San Francisco Chronicle executive editor Phil Bronstein, 50; and their infant son, court documents showed Wednesday.
P'omato allegedly told an employee at Stone's home on March 19 that he "had come all the way from Italy to marry her." Police took the 32-year-old man to a mental health hospital, the order said.
'ER' doctor delivers
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "ER" doctor Alex Kingston is a new mother.
Kingston, who plays Dr. Elizabeth Corday on the NBC medical drama, gave birth to a daughter Wednesday, publicist Marcel Pariseau said.
Kingston and the baby, who weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, are "healthy and happy," Pariseau said Thursday. Kingston's husband of two years is free-lance journalist Florian Haertel.
Her pregnancy was written into "ER." Corday and boyfriend Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards) are expecting a child.
