Brainerd Warriors swimming coach John Zemke is a finalist for the Minnesota High School Boys' Swimming Coach of the Year Award.
Former Warriors coach Joe Vrudny, now coaching at Wayzata, is a finalist for the girls' coach of the year award.
Winners will be announced April 15 at the all-state banquet at the Radisson Metrodome Hotel on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Warrior all-staters Paul Fitzpatrick, Mike Vesely, Pat O'Brien, Shaun Kennedy, Ryan Scheeler and Jim Clabo will be recognized at the banquet.
CLC plans summer volleyball league
The gymnasium at Central Lakes College in Brainerd will be the site of the Raiders Volleyball Summer League.
Games will be played on Mondays from 6-9 p.m., June 5-17. No games are slated for July 3.
Space is limited and reserved for players in grades 9-12 under supervision in six-on-six competition. League director Jane Peterson.
Teams may register together and should consist of at least eight players. Each team needs a designated captain or contact person.

Golden Gloves boxoff Saturday
The Northern Minnesota Golden Gloves Boxoff tournament is scheduled Saturday, April 1, at the Wadena Armory.
Bouts begin at 7:30 p.m. Boxers from Wadena, St. Cloud, Willmar, Fergus Falls, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes and Nevis will be matched against champions from Leech Lake, Duluth and Nay-Ta-Wash. The Class A champions advance to the Upper Midwest Tournament at the Medina Ballroom. The Upper Midwest is scheduled to begin 5 p.m. Sunday, April 9, with the finals 7 p.m. Monday, April 10.
Some junior and novice bouts will be also featured this weekend as well as a possible female bout for Lacey Kuschel of Nimrod.
In Class A there may be bouts in all weight classes from 125 pounds to the superheavyweight class.
