C-I STRIKE BRIEFS

C-I School Board chair: Teachers all licensed

Posted: Tuesday, March 29, 2005

CROSBY -- Crosby-Ironton School Board chair Scott Kile said Monday afternoon all of the school district's substitute teachers are now licensed, following an agreement reached last week when the teachers' union and school board representatives appeared in Cass County Court.

Kile said he knew of four substitute teachers who had to be reassigned because paperwork on the licensing was not complete. He said the district was working with the Department of Education to update the state agency's Web site listing of licensed teachers.

The school board chair said there was still no letter of reprimand for two Cuyuna Range Elementary School secretaries who were asked to take paid time off after they talked to striking teachers. Kile said the decision on whether to issue such a letter would be made by Superintendent Linda Lawrie. If such a letter is issued the employees, who have returned to work, would have the right to file a grievance, Kile said.

Lawrie could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
