ASA/USA Softball and the Minnesota Sports Federation will conduct an umpire clinic 7:30 p.m. April 3 in the Brainerd High School gym.
The clinic is geared to enhance new and veteran umpires' officiating experience through interpretation of rules and regulations by an ASA/USA softball staff member. The instructor in Brainerd will be Ron Moog.
Clinics last approximately 1 1/2 hours. There is no cost to attend. Umpires may register with ASA/USA Softball when they attend.

Area karateists compete
Several Brainerd area karateists competed in a Kata tournament March 25 at Central Minnesota Karate in St. Cloud.
There were 58 competitors representing nine Mid-Minnesota clubs.
Results for the youth division:
Yellow belt -- 2-Ben LaFrance, Baxter; 3-Jonathan Warling, Brainerd; Purple belt -- 1-Tim Heeren, Brainerd; 2-Desmond Janousek, Brainerd; Brown Belt -- 1-Alex Goble, Aitkin.
Results for the adult division:
Orange belt --1-Melissa Brown, Brainerd; Green belt -- 2-Doug Heeren, Brainerd; Purple belt -- 2-David Murdock, Brainerd; Brown belt -- 1-Blaine Welgraren, Brainerd.
Skogen to be speaker
Brainerd Warriors girls' track and field coach Geri Skogen will speak to the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
Brainerd wrestler places second
Louis Eschenbacher, a second-grader at Garfield Elementary in Brainerd finished second at the recent Wadena wrestling invitational at 59 pounds.
He pinned his first two opponents in 20 and 11 seconds before losing the championship match.
