Hattie Karpinski

LITTLE FALLS -- Hattie Karpinski, 80, Little Falls, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Elder Heights in Little Falls.

She was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Bowlus to Vincent and Anna (Czech) Klisch. She was the youngest of 11 children. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1938. She worked at the Milwaukee Seminary to the St. Paul Seminary from 1938-1942. She married Richard Karpinski on June 16, 1952, in Little Falls. He died in 1997. She made bombs during World War II. She was a seamstress at Munsingwear and worked at Griggs Cooper and Toni Co. until 1959. She retired at age 40. Through St. Kevin's parish, she was a volunteer for 30 years for the Cancer Home. She was also involved in PTA, Altar and Rosary Society and a Third Order Dominican for many years.

Survivors include a son, Paul, Minneapolis; a daughter, Maria, St. Paul; a brother, Edward Klisch, Bowlus; and three sisters, Agnes Fischer, Little Falls, Margaret Birschbach, Fond du Lac, Wis., and Mary Lemire, Aitkin.

Her husband, three brothers, Mike, Louis and Roman Klisch, and three sisters, Elizabeth Kroll, Helen Klisch and Katherine Klisch, died earlier.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Little Falls with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Hillside Memorium Cemetery of Minneapolis.

Friends may call at Brenny Funeral Home-West Chapel of Little Falls from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, with parish prayers at 6 p.m. followed by Third Order of St. Francis prayers at 7 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday. There will also be a reviewal and prayer service from 9:30-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church of Minneapolis.
