McGREGOR TOWNSHIP -- A 30-year old McGregor Township man is in custody today pending an investigation into the death of his 69-year old neighbor.

Early Tuesday morning the Aitkin County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call indicating the 69-year-old man had discharged a gun at the 30-year-old.

Upon arrival at the 30-year old's residence, police found the 69-year-old Louis James Robbins dead.

Dennis Landborg, Aitkin County sheriff, said the cause of the 69-year-old's death is still under investigation, with an autopsy scheduled for today. He also said that contrary to the 911 call there has been no evidence discovered thus far of any shots fired.

Landborg said the incident happened in a residence on Highway 210, east of McGregor. The two men were neighbors in a mobile home park, Landborg said. The 911 call was made by the 30-year-old male. He also said the incident took place at the 30-year-old's residence. There were no witnesses.

The 30-year-old male has not been formally charged, and is being held in the Aitkin County jail pending an investigation for homicide. The Dispatch is withholding the name pending the formal charges.

Special agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were called in to assist in the investigation.
