STAPLES -- The American Cancer Society's 2000 Heartland Relay for Life will be June 23-24 in Staples.
The Relay for Life event consists of teams of up to 15 people per team representing Staples and Todd Counties, including companies, organizations, churches, neighborhoods, and families who spend 13 hours together in an effort to raise money to fight cancer. The objective is to have at least one member of each team walking or running around the track for the entire event.
A team captain's kickoff meeting will be 7 p.m. April 4 at First Integrity Bank Annex in Staples. Individuals at the Team Captain's Kickoff Meeting will have the opportunity to learn more about the event and how they can become involved in this community event to help fight cancer.
The volunteer planning committee's goal for this year is to recruit at least 20 teams and raise more than $20,000.
