Homer L. Anderson

BAILEYS HARBOR, Wis. -- Homer L. Anderson, 72, Baileys Harbor, Wis., formerly of Brainerd, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

He was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Brainerd to Will and Mabelle (Anderson) Anderson. He graduated from Brainerd High School. He served in the Navy from 1951-1954 on the submarine Trumpet Fish. He earned his bachelor of science degree in 1958 at St. Cloud State University. In 1963, he earned his master's degree at Northern Colorado University. He married Marlis Anderson on July 7, 1973, in Foley. He taught social studies at the secondary education level in Great Falls, Mont., from 1958 to 1967, and in the Bloomington School District No. 271 from 1967 to 1992. He retired in 1993 and moved to Door County. He sang in the Westminster Choir and various quartets. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Larry Anderson, Connecticut; and a sister, Joyce Anderson, Brainerd.

Services were at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with the Rev. Donald Fenner officiating, and at the First Presbyterian Church in Foley. Burial was in Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
