Business Notes Wilson gains recognition for 35 years
Clyde Wilson is being recognized in March for 35 years of service with the National Bushing Parts Co./Auto Value Parts Stores.
Wilson started as a counterman in March 1970 and has been a manager of the Brainerd store for 30 years. Wilson was noted for outstanding dedication and commitment to the company, employees and customer service relations.
Vandeputte gains award
Steve Vandeputte of Brother's Motorsports, Baxter, recently was awarded the Skidoo 2005 U.S. District Dealer of the Year.
Vandeputte was honored at a private celebration in Acapulco, Mexico, last month.
Zetah joins Consolidated Telecommunications
Scott Zetah recently joined Consolidated Telecommunications Co., based in Brainerd, as supply and staging technician.
Zetah was formerly a sales representative with Crescent Electric and store manager for Tom's Hardware Hank in Motley. As supply and staging technician, Zetah will assist with purchasing materials and equipment to support the operation of CTC, maintain inventories and assure inventory controls are followed.
Duy gains certification
Tami Duy, owner of Head Over Heels Spalon inside the Shimmer Shack on Highway 371, gained Alexandria Professional Body Sugaring certification in 2005.
Kruchten joins BMC
Jodi Kruchten joined Brainerd Medical Center as its new medical aesthetician/skincare specialist at the Centre for Dermatology and Facial Plastics.
Kruchten of Clear Lake began her position at BMC this month. She has several years of training and experience. She has a manager's license in para-medical aesthetics and specializes in a wide array of advanced skin care therapies, including micro-dermabrasion, hyperpigmentation (age spots, sun damage) chemical peels, acne management, laser treatments and facials. She also helps Dr. Paul Lundstrom, dermatologist, and Dr. Kurtis Waters, plastic surgeon.
Kiloran joins Nystrom & Associates
BAXTER -- Marilyn Kiloran joined Nystrom & Associates as a clinical supervisor for the Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services in the community.
Kiloran earned a St. Cloud State University undergraduate degree and a University of Minnesota master's degree in social work. She is licensed at the independent clinical social worker level. She has represented out-state workers on the Minnesota Board of Social Work for the past eight years.
Johnson attends training
Patricia Johnson, a Billings ovulation method instructor for natural family planning at Natural Family Planning of the Brainerd Lakes Area Inc., recently attended a week-long international conference and extension course in Dallas.
The course recertified Johnson as a natural family planning instructor for the BOMA-USA method. She has been a BOMA instructor in the lakes area since 1999.
Bourassa earns top sales award
Beverly Bourassa, Brainerd, was named one of the Top 10 Sales Achievers of 2004 from among those who attended Tastefully Simple's regional conference in Minneapolis.
She is an independent consultant for Tastefully Simple, a national direct sales company selling upscale, convenience-driven gourmet foods. She was among more than 2,500 consultants nationwide who attended one of five regional conferences.
Evans joins Northwoods Nonprofits
Donna Evans joined Northwoods Nonprofits as coordinator for the Brainerd lakes area.
She is responsible for implementing all aspects of the program, marketing the program in the area, recruiting participants and providing resource information and referral services.
She has an associate's degree in e-commerce from South Central Technical College and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Iowa State University. She has more than 10 years experience in marketing and mass communications and Web site design.

Luncheon set in Little Falls
LITTLE FALLS -- The Little Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau and area attractions will host an informal luncheon 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 15 at the Initiative Foundation Meeting Room in Little Falls.
Members of the Little Falls City Council and staff, Little Falls School Board and staff, Morrison County Board and staff, Community Development Board and staff, Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Board and staff, Col. Rick Weaver, GRAA, Initiative Foundation and area media have been invited. Rep. Greg Blaine, R-Little Falls, and Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley, have committed to attend.
John Edmund, executive director of Explore Minnesota Tourism, will discuss how Tourism Works for Minnesota. Cathy VanRisseghem, CVB executive director, will discuss how Tourism Works for Little Falls and unveil the new "You Are Little Falls" campaign.

NISSWA -- Nisswa at Night, an after hours business networking event hosted by a Nisswa Chamber of Commerce member, is set 6-7:30 p.m. April 14 at Tony and Brenda Thibodo's Sculpture Gardens Gift Shop & Home Decor and Donna Evans and Bill Henry at Gizmo Creations, next to the Northland Center on Highway 371 south of downtown Nisswa.

Eggs 'n' Issues set April 1
Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce members are invited to meet with state senators and representatives at the Chamber's Eggs 'n' Issues Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at the Bonanza Family Restaurant in Baxter.
Almost 60 people attended the first Eggs 'n' Issues in February and the discussion focused on education, transportation, health care and taxes. The meeting begins with a buffet breakfast and then attendees have an opportunity to ask questions or offer suggestions about issues affecting their businesses.

CLC offers accounting class
Central Lakes College is offering a two-credit course, Quickbooks Pro for Windows, taught by Jay Bock, 6-9 p.m. April 12 and 19 on the Brainerd campus.
This class will provide the basic skills necessary to implement computerized accounting using Quickbooks Pro for Windows with the basics of system setup, cash receipts, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash disbursements.
Prior knowledge of the program is not required and it is not necessary to own the software. This course includes an on-site session, individualized to meet student needs.
Fee is $214.46, plus a $20 application fee may apply. Class size is limited.

Business class scheduled April 14
"Going Into Business for Yourself" at Central Lakes College will be offered 6-9 p.m. April 14 at the Business and Industry Center on the Brainerd campus.
The seminar will cover all areas of business startup, advice on how to get one's dream off the ground, and how to become and stay profitable, including financing of a new venture. Jay Bock is the instructor.
This session is designed to assist the potential business owner through the process of developing the project, provide the opportunity to have questions addressed and identify other helpful resources. The instruction includes business structure and required government filings. Free follow-up counseling is available from the Small Business Development Center's team of consultants.
Pre-registration is required by April 7. Cost is $40 per person or $60 for participant and one additional business partner.

WSN projects win awards
Widseth Smith Nolting, Baxter, projects recently were recognized with awards for Construction Excellence (County State Aid Highway 20 or Riverside Drive), Project of the Year (Cass CSAH 13), and Excellence in Concrete (Forestview Middle School).
The Minnesota Department of Transportation, Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association and the U.S. Federal Highway Administration recently presented their Merit Award of Construction Excellence to the Crow Wing County Highway Department for the CSAH 20/Riverside Drive improvement project.
The award was presented at the 2004 Bituminous Conference recognizing Crow Wing County engineer, Duane Blanck; contractor, Anderson Brothers Construction Co.; and WSN, engineers.
The scope of the project included reconstruction of the roadway between Beaver Dam Road and Ashmun Road in Brainerd.
Minnesota County Engineers Association recently presented its Project of the Year award to the Cass County Highway Department for the CSAH 13 highway and bridge improvement project in Walker. This project included the reconstruction of six miles of roadway and complete replacement of the Roosevelt Canal bridge.
The North Dakota Ready Mix & Concrete Products Association presented its Excellence in Concrete award to the Brainerd School District for the use of precast concrete in the 339,000-square-foot Forestview Middle School designed by WSN in association with Rozeboom Miller.
