The Brainerd High School Kixters entered state danceline competition at Wayzata, competing against 27 other teams. There are 27 girls in the Kixter group.
40 years ago (1969)
A bird whose natural habitat is the Pacific Ocean was found along Highway 371 near Fort Ripley. Dr. J.E. Echternacht identified the bird as an Ancient Murrelet and is only the fourth such bird to have been seen in the state.
60 years ago (1949)
The Mankato Scarlet Scourge struck at the Brainerd Warriors 52-34 in the opening round of the state basketball tournament. Brainerd trailed only 20-15 at the half, but quickly lost ground in the third period.
80 years ago (1929)
Approximately 250 Oklahoma Indians, representing five tribes, will vacation in the Whitefish Lake territory this coming summer. Bob Pettit, editor of the American Indian Journal, is currently here making preparations.
100 years ago (1909)
H.F. Thomas of the Pence Auto Co., Minneapolis, was here yesterday to place the Buick auto agency with the Smith Bros. While here Mr. Thomas landed orders for four fine cars, including three 40 HP touring cars.
