VERNDALE - The Verndale Fire Department responded to a barn fire at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of West Service Drive in Verndale, the Verndale Police Department reported.
The barn appeared to be a total loss, police said. No injuries were reported and the horses were removed by the owner and unharmed. Also assisting at the fire was the Wadena Fire Department and the Wadena County Sheriff's Department. This fire was across the road from R & J Horse Sales, where a December fire killed about 40 horses.
Cabin fire investigated
GARRISON - The Garrison Fire Department responded to a cabin fire at 3:15 p.m. Monday on the 5600 block of Camp Lake Trail.
The cabin, which Garrison Fire Chief Bruce Breun said was abandoned, was a complete loss. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Garrison firefighters also responded to a Lakes Gas propane truck that had lost a tire and was reported to be on fire about 1 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 18 in Garrison.
Breun said the only thing on fire was the lost tire, which was about 200 feet from the propane truck. No injuries were reported.
