Brainerd High School graduate Carl Sneep of Boston College was named to the Hockey East all-tournament team last weekend as the Eagles won the league playoff championship.
Sneep, a sophomore defenseman, had an assist in BC's 4-0 victory over Vermont.
He has played in all 40 of the Eagles' games. He has scored three goals, two on power plays, and has 14 total points.
Boston College received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and has captured the No. 2 seed in the Northeast Regional at Worcester, Mass. The Eagles will face No. 3 seed Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in a game scheduled to be televised on ESPNU.
The Eagles will make their sixth consecutive appearance in the national tournament. It is the school's 10th berth in the last 11 years and 28th overall.
BC and Minnesota have met 26 times, including eight times in NCAA tournament action. The Gophers hold a 14-10-2 edge in the all-time series while the teams have split the eight national tournament meetings.
Saturday's game will mark the first between the teams since Dec. 28, 2002, when Minnesota beat BC 2-1 in overtime to capture the Dodge Holiday Classic crown at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.
The teams last met in NCAA tournament action in 1990 when Boston College defeated the Gophers in a best-of-three game series. The teams split the first two meetings before BC beat Minnesota 6-1 to earn a trip to the Frozen Four.
The Eagles enter the NCAA Tournament with a 21-11-8 record and have won their last five games.
