IRONTON -- Mary Elizabeth Carlson, 77, Ironton, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at her home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Gary, W.Va. She married Ragnar "Swede" Valdemar Bjorndahl Carlson on March 3, 1941, in Johnson City, Tenn. She marched in the Ladies Drum and Bugle Corps for eight-and-a-half years. She played on the Corn Ball Band for 38 years as a drummer. She was a retired employee of Samco, where she worked from 1968 to 1981. Presently, she worked out of her home as a seamstress.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert "Swede" Carlson, Deerwood; two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Smith, Boone, N.C., and Julia Dolgas, Clearwater, Fla.
Three sisters and a brother died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby with the Rev. Paul Mattson officiating.
Friends may call one hour before the services Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
