SOBIESKI -- Leo V. Polasek, 90, Sobieski, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
He was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Swan River Township in Morrison County to George and Josephine (Yasgar) Polasek. He grew up and attended school in Sobieski and in Little Falls. After completing his schooling, he worked on the family farm where he was the third generation to work there. He worked various threshing rigs in the Dakotas and also worked briefly in Chicago. He married Helen Kliber on May 29, 1939, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. The couple farmed the family farm in Swan River Township until retiring in 1979. He was board member of the Sobieski Creamery and trustee of the church for many years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Suzanne Greenslit, Merrifield, Carol Medek, Pierz; two sons Mark Polasek, Sobieski, James Polasek, Little Falls; and six grandchildren.
Brothers, Louis, Frank and George Polasek, Jr. died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski with the Rev. David Grundemann officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Parish prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
