WHAT'S DOING

The Brainerd Lakes Area Women of Today and ECFE will be having an Easter party from 10 a.m. to noon April 7 at the District No. 181 Learning Center in the big gym. Cost is $2.50 per child. Adults are free with a non-perishable food item to donate to the food shelf.

There will be crafts, frosting Easter cookies, an Easter egg hunt and bean bag toss. Those interested can have their picture taken with real bunnies.

Money raised will be donated to the ECFE scholarship fund.

Class of 1944 to meet

Class of 1944 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Northwind Grille.

Woodland Wildflower meeting planned

The Woodland Wildflower Red Hat group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Applebee's.

Women's spring luncheon scheduled

BAXTER - The Newcomers' Club will have the annual women's spring luncheon at 11:30 a.m. March 31 at Prairie Bay in Baxter for residents new to the area, current members and club alumni.

A gourmet lunch will be served along with a wine tasting and cooking demonstration. The event costs $15 per person. Call to reserve a seat.

Moose activities planned

Texas Hold 'Em will be played at 6:30 p.m. Monday; cribbage will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; breakfast from the menu will be available from 9 a.m. to noon April 1.

VFW activities planned

Bingo will be 6 p.m. Monday with basket food served. Soup and sandwich will be served from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a meatloaf dinner served from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday. Cost: $7.

BNSF Vets breakfast

The BNSF Vets breakfast meeting will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Northwind Grille.

Senior dances scheduled

Senior dances will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Little Falls with music by the Nite Owls; from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at Motley with music by the Drifters; from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at Waukenabo with music by Mr. Morgan; from 7-10 p.m. with music by Michael James; and from 1-4 p.m. March 31 at Aitkin for a jam session. All musicians welcome. Free dance.

Firearm safety training

A firearm safety training class will begin 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd VFW. Students must be 12 years old. Adults welcome to take the class. Classes will meet at 6:30 p.m. after the first night. Call the VFW at 829-6393 after 3 p.m. to pre-register. Class is limited to 30 students. Cost: $15 per student.

23rd annual fiddlers' contest

PILLAGER - The 23rd annual fiddlers' contest will be 7 p.m. March 31 at Pillager High School. Cost: $4. There will be an in-house raffle with tickets sold at the contest. Grand raffle tickets are available from fair board members.

The event is sponsored by the Cass County Fair Board in Pillager.

Sons of the American Legion breakfast buffet

DEERWOOD - Sons of the American Legion will have an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Deerwood Legion. Cost: $6.

Benefit for Baerbel Schaum planned

EAST GULL LAKE - There will be a benefit for Baerbel Schaum from 6-10 p.m. April 1 at Ernie's on Gull Lake. There will be raffles, a silent auction and prizes. Cost: $20 donation for dinner. Kids 10 and under are free.

Schaum was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July 2005. She was treated in Rochester at the Mayo Clinic beginning in April 2006. To make donations, call Angie at 828-7806 or at Bremer Bank under Baerbel's Benefit Fund.

BAXTER - There will be a get-together for lunch at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bonanza in Baxter. Classmates and spouses are invited. RSVP to Richard Boileau at 829-2350.

Ray's Promenaders

Ray's Promenaders will have a dance Friday at Franklin cafeteria. Plus dancing will be at 7:30 p.m. and mainstream dancing will be at 8 p.m. Royce Nelson will be the caller. It will be hat night.

Easter basket fundraiser

The Bethany second annual silent auction Easter basket fundraiser will run through Tuesday with winning bids announced at 3 p.m. There are more than 70 baskets including children, baby, Easter decor, candy dishes, etc.

The baskets are located in the front entry of Bethany Good Samaritan.

The funds raised will help pay for continued improvements for the Campbell Room.

Alpha No. 23 OES

Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES will meet for dinner at 6 p.m. and a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Masonic Temple. Wear your spring hats.
